Day 23...58 miles from Rapid City, SD to Wall, SD. After all the climbs yesterday and seeing Wind Cave, Black Mountains, Crazy Horse and Mount Rushmore an enjoyable rolling ride on the service road today brought smiles to everyones face. We spent about 20 miles of our 58 on the Hwy which is always nerve racking but today the shoulder was clear and truckers kind, they moved over so their backdraft wasn't too intense. We had a cross wind which is so much better than a head wind. Most riders made it to the hotel by Noon. Gave everyone time to relax, do laundry and walk into downtown Wall. Population 818. The interesting story of Wall is that years ago when the interstate was put in someone had the bright idea of putting a sign up advertising FREE ice cold water. Well, in the town of Wall to this day you can still get a FREE glass of water at Wall Drug. You can also get almost anything else you are looking for as Wall Drug takes up most of the entire downtown and I think everyone who lives here works there. It's a tourist destination...I personally am not sure why but it was nice to have the down time as yesterday's ride was hard and tomorrows will be a long day. 117 miles plus we loss an hour going into central time. Hoping you enjoy the pictures.
