Day 35......Fond Du Lac to Manitowoc WI......Short day only 57 miles. The roads in Wisconsin have been good, not near as many pot holes and ruts as Minnesota. Todays sections of road was AMAZING. Finally able to ride at 17.4mph for the entire ride today because the road conditions didn't bother my hand. Just outside the town limits in Fond Du Lac, was the park with the lighthouse that lights the largest lake in Wisconsin. After a brief photo shot of the lighthouse we headed slightly northeast. We had a slight cross wind and for the final 8-10 miles the most heavenly tailwind. We had our first view of Lake Michigan. It was very interesting as we came closer to the lake the temperature dropped about 10 degrees. It was heavenly. I arrived by Noon, which gave me time to get laundry done, walk into the downtown area and finally have internet access to update and chat with people. Tomorrow is our "off" day. We cycle 6 miles to the ferry, board the boat to cross Lake Michigan. The crossing will take us about 4 hours and we will loss an hour so we will finally be on eastern standard time. Getting closer to the Atlantic. Hard to believe there is only 2 weeks left of this amazing journey. Rest tomorrow for our last century plus on Tuesday. Tuesday we ride 114 miles. I am missing home, my husband, my boys, my dogs but on this journey I have learned a great deal about myself. What I am made of and how far I can and will push myself to stay healthy and inspire other people to live for today, tomorrow is promised to no one.
